Notre Dame Academy junior Tim Davison plans to play post high school hockey. Scouts and teams around the country believe that Davison’s career will not end anytime soon after high school.
During the 2009-10 high school WIAA hockey season, Davison finished the season first in points for a defenseman with 47 assists and 11 goals. Later he was named First Team All State and First Team All Conference. In doing so, he helped lead the NDA boys hockey team to their first trip to state in school history.
The talent did not go unnoticed. Shortly after the high school season, the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL, (United States Hockey League) selected Davison 12th overall in the first round of the 2010 futures draft.
Davison said, “Yes, I was very excited when I found out that I had been drafted, but I knew that I still had to make the team.”
The tryout camp was a success. Davison competed against some of the most elite players in the U.S from ages 15-20 and earned a roster spot. However, Davison plans on spending one more year with Notre Dame before joining Youngstown.
Notre Dame Academy hockey coach Cory McCracken said, “Tim has the skills to go far in his hockey career. As long as he trains and puts the time in, he will be fine.”
Shortly following the Youngstown tryout, Davison was selected to attend the National Development Camp in Rochester, New York. The week-long camp displays the most elite players in the country born in the year 1995. A team of 20 players was then made up based on the player’s performance to represent the United States at the Five Nations Tournament in Switzerland. Davison was one of the players selected.
Davison said, “It was an honor to be able to represent the country. It was definitely an experience I will never forget.” After the tournament, the U.S. returned home with a gold medal. Davison added one goal and three assists over the week.
Not only junior and national teams have recognized Davison’s talent. The University of Wisconsin and Ohio State University have both offered athletic scholarships to Davison. Davison has yet to make a decision, but he is considering the scholarships from the two schools.
