When summer rolls around students exhale a sigh of relief for having those two months to sleep in until five. This is called year-round school. For many schools this is not an option anymore. Some schools have adapted another way of learning. This is called year-round school. Year-round school is when you have school for forty-five days then have a three week break. ” I like the way our school schedule is because summer is the only thing I look forward to,” freshman Jackie Reyes said. Unlike our regular school schedule year-round school does not have a summer break because of the three week break it has, and half school as we all know it is when we suffer through ten months of school with breaks in between until we are finally released for two months in the scorching sun and then the cycle starts again. “I felt that the teachers were refreshed. personally I wasn’t bored.” Library Clerk Eileen Santero said. There has always been some debate over year round and traditional both types have their pros and cons. The pros for year round is there is no gap in between school years where the students will most likely forget almost everything they have learned over the months and parents for the younger grades do not always need to find a babysitter for those days when their child is on vacation. A con is students would have to get used to a new schedule and stick to how it is from the time they start school to the day they graduate. New schedules and little kids do not always go as planned. There has been many debates over Year round school whether it really is the way to go this will not be happening to us anytime soon
“I think that its better the way we have it now, because summer is something I look forward to and if its only three weeks and then we go back to the 45 days, it takes all the excitement away,” freshman Nedy Velazquez said.
