The Salvation Army is a world wide organization for the needy. The Salvation Army began in 1865 by one man named William Booth. He was a minister in London, who wanted to spread his word around to the people of all kind.
The people of the poor and the destitute were ashamed to walk in any church home due to their circumstances. Soon after, William bought a church just for them; they could feel comfortable in their own environments.
William, his son and his friend, George Railton, helped pitch in with the center known as "The Christian Mission". By the 1900s, The Salvation Army was known around the world. The Salvation Army has been a huge help to all of the needy, and homeless. If we did not have the mission there would be a lot of people in need of help.
So remember the next time you see a bell ringer at the entrance of a Walmart, Target, or any other department store to give a little change to help change a life.
