How are the gas prices affecting lives all over the world?  People just cannot afford to go as many places as they used to be able to.  Also, other cuts must be made at the grocery store to cut out some "wants" and stick more to the "needs."  Car companies are coming out with new vehicles that get better gas mileage, but with that factor, the price goes up on the car.  The consumers cannot win in this situation.  Sales in smaller vehicles have gone up over a 20% increase in sales, while larger trucks and vehicles have slumped in sales close to 20%.  Tell me what you think about the high price of gasoline and diesel and some ways you have gotten around it.

You're right. People are struggling to contend with gas prices. I'm a grad student on a rather large university. I chose to live in an apartment complex that is close to the buildings in which my classes are. Luckily, I found an internship with the athletic marketing department which is also close to my apartment. Since the proximity is so close, I walk to class and work. A lot of people ride bicycles or take advantage of public transportation. Others carpool with classmates or coworkers to cut back on travel expenses. I've even seen roller bladers and skate boarders coasting down the hills on campus. It's easier for us to find cost-effective ways of transportation because everything is pretty close together. I'd recommend taking the bus, riding with friends or asking neighbors to carpool as ways to save money and get to school. Also, car maintenance like tire pressure, regular oil changes or tire rotation and driving habits like keeping the speed around 50 mph or gradual acceleration can also help you get the most out of a tank of gas. Good luck on the roads, and remember to wear your seatbelt!
