This season is going a lot better than expected for the varsity softball team, according to Kyeli Parker, sophomore.
The varsity team is first in the league and after 17 games. The Vikings went to Moscow April 24 and won both of their games 14-4 and 9-2. The next game they won against Lake City, April 20 with the final score of 5-2.
“There are a lot of younger girls on our team, so I was wasn’t sure if we were going to be able to compete as well as we have,” Parker said.
Before every game the girls do a dance that has been a tradition for years, according to Parker.
Coeur d’Alene lost against Lake City April 16; the final score was 3-2. CHS then played Lewiston April 10. CDA won with a final score of 8-5.
“My favorite team to play would have to be Lake City, because they are a fun team to play and it is always competitive,” Parker said.
One strategy that the team has is “to try to get mad at someone on the opposite team” Parker said. It helps them play their hardest, according to Parker.
The next game will be May 1 at Lewiston.
