For almost everyone, senior year is always the best year of one’s high school career, but it is also the saddest. With all the perks and extra activities you get to participate in during your senior year, everything also begins to come to an end. Your last first day of school, your last homecoming, you last football game…
On November 4th, 2010 eleven varsity cheerleaders cheered at their last football game. There was mixed emotions at this game. Senior Carley Wear was emotional once she realized it was her last football game. “I love cheerleading and I love the atmosphere of football games. I also love the girls I cheer with,” said Wear. Wear also said it was very hard realizing she will never be on the track cheering again. She will miss football games more than anything. Ware says she will miss the stunting, the dancing, cheering on the players and most of all, she will miss dancing to the band. “I do not plan on cheering in college,” said Wear.
Senior Ariel McFadden also was upset realizing it was her last football game. McFadden said, “I will definitely miss being with my goofy cheer friends. They always make the games more enjoyable.” McFadden said she had many memorable moments throughout her senior year football season. McFadden’s most memorable moment however was at her very last football game. During the game against Watson Chapel the refs made bad calls and many players were getting hurt, but the bears never gave up. McFadden said this is her most memorable moment because she loved seeing the bears work together as a team and give it their all. This is also a memorable moment for her because the final score was very close, and since Watson Chapel is so high ranked game McFadden was proud to be a bear.
Many of the seniors have been cheering since the 8th grade. Their last football game was sad and full of emotion, but as they move on to they will always share the memories they made together over the years.
