It's official. At an Oct. 26 performance featuring full color guard as well as local and British dignitaries, Dulaney's band accepted an invitation to march overseas. The Lion's Roar will join 10,000 participants in the 2011 New Year's Day Parade in London.

Dignitaries from Westminister's city council viewed the band's performance at 11 a.m. in the auditorium and then presented an official invitation. The band and color guard performed. Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith and Baltimore County Public Schools Superintendent Joe Hairston attended as did Principal Pat McCusker.

This is especially prestigious, said Barry Chesky, band director, because performances are by invitation only.

The London parade is televised globally to more than 200 million people. An estimated 500,000 people attend the parade in person. For more information on the parade and its route, visit www.londonparade.co.uk.
