Kid Cudi, made famous by his hit single “Day ‘N’ Nite,” has released his first album, Man on the Moon: The End of the Day. Although this album is not as phenomenal as the title suggests, the overall futuristic and sci-fi theme delivers throughout the tracks. The songs range from fast-paced and electrifying to slow and tiresome. Exhausting, lengthy tracks like “Solo Dolo” are scattered throughout the album, compelling the listener to skip these drawn out songs.
Despite his failed attempts to create an appealing slow song, Kid Cudi produces distinct and original pieces; he creates a sound apart from the rest of the artists in the hip-hop and rap genres. His mellow voice accompanied by techno beats, which led to his initial success in “Day ‘N’ Nite,” can be best found in the songs “Sound track 2 My Life” and “Enter Galactic.” The majority of the songs use this technique to generate an interesting and unique impression.
While it would be far-fetched to call this album ‘out of this world,’ Kid Cudi’s personal style makes a listener feel that way.
