Varsity Softball: The varsity softball team finished their regular season after beating Parkville 11-1 in an away game on May 2. The girls made it past the first round of the Regional tournament defeating Westminster 4-3 at home on May 10. Strong batting and a solid defense have helped the lions achieve their record of 11-8. They play Perry Hall away on May 14.
JV Softball: At 4-10, the junior varsity softball team finished their season on May 2 with a win against Parkville. Defense and softball IQ were weaknesses in the season for the young team but they made improvements towards the end. “Our goal every game was to do better than our last.” Sophomore, fielder Abigail McGucken said.
Allied Softball: At 1-1-2, the allied softball team has faced competitive competition resulting in multiple ties. The team’s biggest strength is their positive attitude and passion for the game says head coach Peter Sykes
Varsity Baseball: At 13-5, the varsity baseball team is not fazed by its inexperience. Senior Ryan Bartenfelder credits good hitting and smart base running to the young team’s current record. The boys finished up their regular season with a win over Parkville on May 7. They earned a bye for the first round of the regional playoffs. Their next game is home on May 15.
JV Baseball: At 6-6, the junior varsity baseball team comes from behind to finish the season with a win against Parkville on May 7, putting the team at 500. This season the team struggled with pitching and defense but made up for it with consistent hitting says freshman left-fielder Brandon Russo.
Varsity G Lax: At 8-3, the varsity girls are heading in the right direction for a deeply desired state championship after falling short to Catonsville for the County championship on May 5. Senior captain and attacker Cara Henning, credits the team’s success to strong senior leadership, speed, and good defense. The girl’s won their Regional first round game on May 11 against Woodlawn. Thier next game is at Catonsville on May 14.
JV G Lax: The girl’s junior varsity lacrosse team wraps up their season with a win against Catonsville on May 3 putting the team at 6-2 as their final record. Sophomore captain Brooke Epstein attributes the team’s success to strong communication and a strong ability to find people on the field.
Varsity B Lax: At 11-4, the boy’s varsity lacrosse team earned a spot at Counties but lost to the Hereford Bulls on May 5. Senior captain and defenseman, Louie Bafford, attributes the team’s success to a strong starting line-up. The boys got a bye for the first round of the Regional tournament and beat Perry Hall on May 11. They play Bel Air at home on May 14.
JV B Lax: At 8-1, the junior varsity boy’s lacrosse team finished their season on May 3 with a win against Catonsville. Freshman defense and long stick middy, Ben Stevens, credits the team’s success to good stick skills and having strength in both offense and defense.
Co-ed Tennis: At 13-2, the tennis team rallied together for another strong season. Senior David Wu attributes the team’s successful record to the fact that almost everyone on the team has a winning record and that there is competitive play among the team. During the weekend of May 5, at Counties Olivia Obrien (11) placed first for the number two singles. Girls doubles placed third. Boys number two doubles and singles placed second. The team participated in Regionals during the weekend of May 12 where only three Lions made it through thier matches. Freshman Andrew Abel won his first match in singles and junior Olivia O'brien and senior Gabe Compoverde won thier first two matches for mixed doubles. These three continue Regional play on May 14 at Essex Community College.
Co-ed Track: Recently the team competed at the Baltimore County Championships on May 12 at Sparrows Point High School. The boys track and field team finished fourth at the Baltimore County Track and Field Championships. Seniors Carus Cookman and Malcolm Peacock ran times of 4:33 and 4:36 in the 1600 meter run respectively. They placed third and seventh. Isabel Griffith ran a time of 5:15 to take fourth in the girls 1600 meters and finished third with a 11:39 in the girls 3200. Carus Cookman also grabbed a silver medal in the mens 3200 meter run in a personal best time of 9:50. Russell Souder scored a point for the lions placing sixth in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:03. The girls 4x800 meter relay finished fourth and the boys 4x800 meter relay finished first to win the Baltimore County Championship in the relay event. The mens 4x400 placed second. The team consisted of Quinn Marvel, Russell Souder, Derek Logrande, and Isaish Garner. Reed ran a new personal best of 10:04, scoring for the lions. Freshmen Cheqita Robinson placed third in the girls 800 meter run.
