As we enter the fourth quarter, the excitement and anticipation is at its height. Students at SCA can't wait for summer, and even more so, the seniors are counting down the days until they walk across that stage to get their diploma. During your senior year of high school, everything you do is the last. You have your last first day of school, your last Homecoming, your last soccer season, and your last choir concert. As a high school student, senior year seems like the end. However, for the class of 2012, senior year marks the beginning of a new journey.
The seniors here at SCA are narrowing down their college choices, and most of them are able to tell you exactly what they plan to do after they graduate. Everyone's interests are very unique and reflect the individual passions and talents of each person. Some people are pursuing art, fashion, and interior design, such as Megan and Katelyn. Others are pursuing journalism in some form, like Kyle and Sarah. A few are thinking about a future in ministry, such as Nathan and Patrick. Two of our seniors, Nathan and Joel, are even serving our country by joining the military.
A few seniors were accepted into prestigious programs. Jonathan was accepted into UMKC's architecture program, which only takes thirty-six students each year. Hannah F. was accepted into Missouri State University's elite musical theatre program. The program only takes a very small number of students, and through a rigorous audition she was invited to join. Kyle, who will be pursuing a career in journalism, was accepted into the nation's top journalism school at the University of Missouri. Katie, interested in music therapy as a career, was accepted into Pepperdine.
Though everyone must meet the same requirements and take the same kinds of classes in high school, this year's seniors will be spreading out into the world in the coming months. With this school as a launch pad, there is no limit to what can be accomplished.
