At-a-glance

CR Johnson is a man whose story should be known by all. CR Johnson is not only a huge figure in the ski world, but is also a man who should be looked up to by all. On December 8, 2005, CR suffered a very serious head injury while skiing. He was hospitalized for 34 days. The first two weeks of CR’s hospitalization, he lay in a medically induced coma and upon waking up he was entirely paralyzed. As he slowly recovered he had to relearn every daily task, such as eating, breathing, talking and walking. However, from the start of his recovery his undying motivation became to ski again. Using this motivation and a positive state of mind, CR baffled doctors and the skiing community as he rose back up to the top. CR came back to where he once was in his skiing through unbelievable effort and positive thinking. He lived his life remaining positive and believing that everyone must do what they love in life no matter what the consequences are.
On February 24th 2010 CR fell skiing a cliff line at Squaw Valley in California and died. The skiing world was shook hard by CR's death. He had been seen as nearly invincible, it is inconceivable how a man so strong and positive could lose his life after going through such a journey. Many people look at CR’s death and don’t understand why he would even want to ski again knowing that he could die. Any head injury would be extremely serious after sustaining the injury he already had, and the risk of hitting his head again was huge. But for CR, skiing was his absolute passion. CR taught everyone that it is necessary to have that thing that makes you so happy that you would die for it. CR lived life like anything was possible and nothing should be taken for granted, while also showing how powerful and essential a positive state of mind really is. He is an inspiration to strive to do what you love to do every day for the sake of happiness and to achieve a profound sense of self. Being happy is the most important thing in life, and for every person in order to achieve success they must do what they love every day and never let themselves lose a positive state of mind, for it is the most powerful thing in the world.
