…At least according to the band. They will have their annual school holiday concert on Tuesday. That might be one of the songs you hear at this Tuesday’s holiday concert. Students enjoy the NM holiday concerts every year around Christmas time. Before we leave for the holiday break, every grade attends the band, choir, and orchestra holiday concert. This concert is mostly for the elementary kid’s enjoyment but middle school and high school students also enjoy it. The band, choir, and orchestra will be performing this week at the holiday concert. The concert is a good way to enjoy the holidays just before break.

"We’ll be pressed for time, we have to perform for two groups and six different groups have to play." Junior Trumpeter Patrick Walden said.

Traditionally these concerts have been very enjoyable. There is a wide selection of old favorites such as Sleigh Ride and some new music selections like the Nutcracker. North Muskegon has a very good music program and dedicated teachers. Every year the music directors put on a very lively, enjoyable concert. The conductor of the band and high school orchestra is Mr. Glenn Burek and the conductor of the choir is Ms. Beth Slimko.

"Every year the holiday concert keeps me on the edge of my seat, especially Sleigh Ride." Junior Zac McCamant said.

Many students enjoy this concert put on by their peers and support their friends that are in the band, choir, and orchestra but some students skip the holiday concert and leave early. Students should be respectful and stay for the concert.

"Even though our band is small, we’re powerful. Enjoy the concert!" Senior Flutist Katie Korndorfer said.

Going to the Christmas concert is a great way to enjoy the last day of school and become excited for the holidays.
