For those of you who do not know, Defensive Coordinator Mr. Phil Friesner is resigning from his varsity football coaching position. Mr. Friesner has been coaching at North Muskegon for five years. Two years as a junior varsity coach and three years as a varsity coach.
"When I heard that Mr. Friesner was resigning the first thing I wanted to do was cry. Then I considered his reasoning and I commend him for knowing his priorities and putting his two daughters and wife first," junior Aaron Jones said.
Many students at North Muskegon looked up to him like a role model and are sad that he is no longer coaching.
"I think we are losing a big part of the football program. He is a great coach and will be greatly missed," junior Jacob Wilks said.
Mr. Friesner has been thinking about this decision since the birth of his second child and officially resigned this winter.
"It was a very difficult decision. I hope I can come back and coach someday," Mr. Friesner said.
Mr. Friesner resigned due to the fact that coaching varsity fotball and parenting divided his resources which consumed too much time for what he cares for most, his family. However, he has always treated the young men he has coached like family.
