Controversial rap sensation Lil Wayne was arrested in October of 2007 on gun charges. His sentencing was originally set to commence on February 9, but due to dental complications, his sentencing was postponed and is now scheduled to begin March 2. These dental problems were actually complications in the structure of his grill and a cracked tooth. Lil Wayne had surgery February 12, and is said to take ten days before he recovers.
"All I want to say is that Lil Wayne should not be incarcerated. The man is a lyrical genius and belongs in the music business, not behind bars for what should have been a misdemeanor crime," junior Aaron Jones said.
With the popularity that Lil Wayne has, it puts him at an increased risk of danger. There are many people out to get Wayne, and not to mention the people who are against his style of rapping. It is understandable why he would have a weapon to protect himself.
"The poor man has to protect himself and is hard to see the best hip hop artist at this time go to jail. I cannot wait till this man is released and I can hear some of his new, fresh music again," junior Cody Liverance said.
Lil Wayne is projected to have a solid comeback after his new album "Rebirth" failed to impress this February and did not live up to his previous three albums. Although "Rebirth" was considered a failure, Lil Wayne has plenty of time to come up with new material. Even though he was not granted an ipod in his minimum security jail cell, he was granted a T.V. and many more privileges than other prisoners at New York’s Rikers Island correctional facility.
