On Dec. 26, 2009, more than 900 cheerleaders and dancers from around the country headed to London, England to march in the London New Year’s Day Parade. In order to be eligible to perform in the parade, cheerleaders and dancers had to attend a UCA or UDA camp and try out for the title of ALL AMERICAN.  Being selected as an ALL AMERICAN earned them an invitation to travel to London.

Sonora High School JV Cheerleader, Delilah Aguero, a sophomore, was selected ALL AMERICAN at cheer camp held in July. Delilah knew that with this title, she would get the chance to travel to London! What an awesome opportunity for a 15-year-old girl from a small Texas town! Once they got all of the information, they got down to business and started fundraising.

After 5 months of intensive fundraising, it was time for DD to board the airplane in Dallas for a 9 hour flight to London. This was a nerve wracking day for her parents, especially since the day before; some man had tried to blow up an international plane.

While in London, DD and the other cheerleaders were able to tour some really exciting places.  A few of the places were: The Buckingham Palace, Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Big Ben, The Tower of London, The British Museum, and The Windsor Castle- which is one of the official residents of Her Majesty the Queen! Her favorite place was St. Paul’s Cathedral- the church where Princess Diana and Prince Charles were married. 

On Jan 1, 2010, it was time to march in the parade! What an awesome experience! The weather was beautiful that day, not a cloud in sight. The cheerleaders welcomed the sunny day.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. On Jan 2, 2010, after ringing in the New Year in London, it was time for the cheerleaders to return to the USA. Delilah says she would love to go to London again!
