Homeless Children in the United States

Everyone takes pride in our country, in our freedom, and in everything we have. What most of us are not aware of are the cruel living conditions that so many children are living in today. I have researched homeless children in the United States and have concluded that a change needs to occur as soon as possible. I realized we can rescue these poor children after researching many websites and looking at all the facts and how we can help. My goal of this essay is to motivate you to take a stand and help these innocent children find a healthy life by avoiding their terrible living conditions. These homeless children suffer in many different aspects, which has a bigger impact on American than you may think.

So many children are homeless in today’s society and yet no one knows about it. One in fifty children in the United States are faced with homelessness every year and the numbers have recently been increasing. This to me screams, that many children are without a home and a safe environment to grow up in. This number is quite large in the United States and yet we’re sitting back not listening to their pleas for help while so many are suffering out on the streets today. There are so many children out their needing our help and we have done nothing about it.

These homeless children cannot take care of themselves if they are without a family, and even those with a family need extreme attention and love. Forty two percent of all these homeless children are under the age of six years old. This means that almost half of all of these homeless children are at an age where they can barely communicate. This is so important because this number of young children won’t be able to grow up with an education and will be left helpless. These little children won’t be able to survive on their own.

The rate of people with a disorder has increased because of these homeless children. Three fourths of these homeless children suffer from a lack of safety, health, food, comfort, privacy, education, and love. This fact is proven to result in the children developing anxiety, depression, and many other issues. If we don’t stop to help them the future of America will be jeopardized without that many children educated and able to function properly in our society.

Being homeless doesn’t give you the necessities you need to survive. Two thirds of homeless children are starving. This is so important because we have so much food to spare in America and innocent children are being starved on the streets while we have no idea about it. This statistic will just keep increasing if these children are left homeless and their starvation could lead to extreme sickness that will last the rest of their lives. We need to feed them and give them a life where they will always have food on their table.

These homeless children are lacking so many significant things to help them grow in life. About one million of these homeless children won’t be graduating high school. That is such a significant number if you realize that, that many children won’t have a successful future. America will have missed a million children’s worth of new ideas. If they had money and home they’d be able to get the education they deserve.

The numbers of these homeless children have sky rocketed. The poverty rate for these kids is about twenty five percent, which is the largest number since the Great Depression. That number shows so much because of the fact that the Great Depression was one of the lowest points in America’s history and now during this time the poverty rate is just the same as that horrible time. If we let this trend proceed it will be much worse than the Great Depression was. Helping these children will be helping America’s future.

These innocent children are suffering through more than any human being could take in a lifetime. Without a home and a safe environment these children have an extremely slim chance at a bright future. These children are losing so much and America hasn’t been giving the attention that’s been long awaited. You can do your part to help save these children by volunteering at the organizations listed below. America is at risk for losing so many potential ideas and workers that could improve our county.
