Showcase your talents at the 2nd annual Farragut Idol on February 24, starting at 7p.m. Pick up a form in the first floor office. Contestants need a CD with their choice of song on it and it must be the acoustic version. Pictures of each contestant will be taken prior to the performance date.
The winners of each school’s idol will then go onto the County Idol held in Market Square. The grand prize for last year’s idol was a chance to record a song at a Nashville recording studio.
Senior Rachael Maclean, last year’s Farragut Idol winner, remembers signing up and being nervous in the beginning, “[I was] especially nervous before going up and singing, but the host helped me calm down and I was ready to go”.
Rachael didn’t expect to win the competition; she even admitted that she was just doing it for fun. She said, “It’s really fun just to go out and perform, even if you’re not worrying about winning”. This attitude took her further in the competition than expected.
Rachael’s advice for this year’s contestants: “If you’re thinking about signing up, do it. If you’re already signed up, relax and have fun with it”.
