You could just  smell it in the air. The Faire on the Square had returned to Watertown.

On Saturday, Sept. 22, the 13th annual Faire on the Square was held at Saltonstall Field. Lots of people were there for the entertainment, dance performances, food, fun activities, fund-raisers, rides, and shopping!

There were many different kinds of entertainment going on at the Faire. Music caught everyone’s ear the whole time. There were many great performances at the Faire, including music from the Beatles cover band Beatlejuice, which lots of adults enjoyed. Saltonstall Field was littered with adults jamming and singing along to these classic songs.

There were dance performances by Venezia Dance Academy, Nicole’s Studio of Dance, Phunk Phenomenon, Susan Wright School of Dance, and Miss Maria’s School of Dance. Each dance performance had different styles. They ranged from hip hop, jazz, lyrical, tap, and ballet.

Lots of kids crowded around the clowns, and they all had a wonderful time. Laughter filled the air.

There were lots of tables set up in the parking lot of the Watertown Public Library, selling items such as Apple accessories and jewelry. The iPod touch cases were popular with seventh-graders from Watertown Middle School. There were cases with animals on them and some that had lots of jewels.

One of the most popular stands, surrounded all afternoon by a group of girls, sold feather extensions. Everyone loved them, especially because they were only $2 each!

The lines were very long for food at the Faire. Some of the choices included gyros, Thai food, hot dogs, chicken fingers, French fries, and slush. Oh, and it all smelled delicious!

At the Faire, there were lots of activities for kids and adults. The park was full of action! There was an apple pie contest, pony rides, kiddie rides, and a dunk tank. A man calling himself Undunkabo was seen perched atop the dunk tank, ridiculing the audience, dripping wet.

Besides all of the fun, there were lots of fund-raisers and raffles to support local sports teams, school groups, and charities.

Overall, the Faire on the Square was a tremendous success!
