Everyone could feel it in the air. The chaos, the smell of all the food in the hallways. The students and teachers could tell it was time to make Thanksgiving baskets at Watertown Middle School.
Every year, the Watertown Middle School makes Thanksgiving baskets for the less fortunate in the community. Notices were sent home last week, and students and teachers signed up and pledged to bring in a food item (or gift cards from super markets).
Students and teachers brought in food on Friday, Nov. 16 and Monday, Nov. 19, and volunteers put together baskets and delivered them to the families on Tuesday, Nov. 20.
Every year, the WMS community provides great meals for Thanksgiving. Students appreciate everyone’s generosity.
“It’s makes a great impact on the whole school,’’ said Zach Rimsa, an eighth-grade student at WMS. “It gives us a way to get involved and to help the people who can’t afford to purchase a nice Thanksgiving dinner in the community.”
Overall, It is a great way to help people in need. Great job WMS!
