Watertown Middle School is off to a decent start, but more coats are needed!
Coats for Kids is an annual community service project where people can donate coats to keep others warm, and you don’t have to be a Watertown Middle School student to drop off coats. The collection area is located near the the main office, by the courtyard door.
The drive started on Oct. 15, 2012, and ends on Jan. 12, 2013.
If you have any old coats that are in good condition, please donate them!
“Last year, we collected 757 coats and right now, we have around 100 coats,” said sixth-grade teacher Eleanor Donato, who is in charge of the drive once again.
The school isn’t looking for light sweaters, jackets, vests, spring coats, or coats with rips, tears, broken zippers, or permanent stains. The school is looking for warm winter jackets, new or gently used. The coats can be any size and do not have to only be for children.
To all WMS students: if you bring in a coat for the Black and White school dance on Dec. 7, you will get a glow stick.
If anyone has any questions about the Coats for Kids drive, you can find Mrs. Donato in the sixth-grade hallway at the Watertown Middle School or you contact her by email at eleanor.donato@watertown.k12.ma.us.
