The iPad Mini came out in early November, with advanced technology, such as a retina display, fast performance, iSight camera, 275,000 apps available in the app store, and a 10-hour battery life.
The iPad Mini is the new hot product around the world. Lots of people received the iPad Mini in their stockings for Christmas.
Lauren P., a seventh-grader at Watertown Middle School, got the iPad Mini for Christmas.
“It’s small, portable, and good for social networking, school, and games,’’ she said. “The iPad Mini is very addicting and has very fast Internet.”
The iPad Mini is 23 percent thinner, 53 percent lighter, and is able to do everything a regular-sized iPad can. It’s not too big, but not too small. You are able to hold it in one hand!
You can get it with cellular and Wi-Fi or just regular Wi-Fi. It also includes the fast A5 core chip. The A5 chip makes the iPad Mini twice as fast as any other previous-generation iPads.
The iPad mini allows you to download, stream video, and browse at amazing speeds. It is 7.9 inches long, 5.3 inches wide, 0.28 inches deep, and it only weighs 0.68 pounds. (That’s less than a pound!)
You can purchase the iPad Mini in 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB. It comes in two colors, which are black/slate and white/silver.
Two additions to the iPad Mini are the headphones and the charger. The earphones are now shaped better to fit into your ears, and the charger -- the Thunderbolt -- is smaller and can now be inserted to charge on either side.
“The iPad Mini looks and feels like the Kindle,” said Gabby V., a sixth-grader at WMS.
Then why not buy the kindle?
The new iPad Mini has an advanced iSight camera, and there is now a five-element lense. On the iSight camera, all you have to do is touch anywhere on the iPad for auto focus. It also has built-in face detection. The video recording also has the same features. Video recording also has 1080p HD video recording.
“The camera on the iPad Mini is OK,’’ said Laure P. “It’s decent. Definitely not a photography-clear camera.”
Some built-in apps are photo booth, FaceTime, Siri, iTunes, and the game center. Most people that have received the iPad Mini have enjoyed it and have found it very helpful for school work and education. The iPad Mini’s capabilities are very useful, especially for working people.
Overall, the iPad Mini seems to be a huge success, and will always be a favorite to many people -- especially owners.
