The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins is a dystopian novel, that is a filled with suspense. In the book, The Hunger Games, the main character is a 16 year old girl named Katniss Everdeen, who lives in district 12 in a country, called Penam. Her father died and she lives with her mother and her 12 year old sister, Prim. Each year, a boy and a girl between the ages of 12 to 18 gets picked, by lottery, from each district to go to the Hunger Games and fight for their lives. It is the survival of the fittest. Katniss’s sister Prim gets picked to go to the games, but Katniss volunteers to be tribute and take her place. Prim makes Katniss keep a promise that she will win and come home to her family. However, before the games, Peeta Mellark, the other representative from 12, announces that he is in love with Katniss. There can be only one winner at the end of the games; who will it be? And can Katniss keep her promise to Prim?
The Hunger Games is an amazing book because of how everyone is trying to survive. My favorite part of the book is when Katniss and Peeta went to the games because everyone is fighting for their own life and it shows how Katniss really cares about her family and she is doing her best to keep her mom and her sister Prim alive. I also liked how Katniss and Rue were allies and how Katniss looked up to her like Prim and they were trying to keep each other alive.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure books. This is truly a must-read book. I would rate this book a 5 out of 5.
