A couple rehearsals a week is all it takes for If All Else Fails, a local power pop band, to write and play music. The band, consisting of five very talented musicians, has been writing and playing their own music since December 2009. Their official genre “power pop” is becoming an increasingly popular style of music.

‘We play power pop because no one else around here does and we just like it,” said vocalist and guitarist, Dominic Esposito.

“It ‘s like a happier, heavier version of rock,” said keyboardist, Cody Robinson.

The name of their band was inspired by one of Matchbook Romance’s songs, “If All Else Fails.” Their musical influences are from a variety of rock/power pop/punk groups, including Just Surrender, Four Years Strong, and Hit The Lights.

The band has played several shows so far: the YMCA Leaders Club Band Night and Battle of the Bands 2010.

They are also busy writing songs, and currently finishing up their newest one, “Mad Cow Disease.” The titles of all of their songs are “All For the Better”, “Broclub,” “Believing in a Chance (for Jackie Jet plane),”” Intro,” and “City Lights.”

Throughout the next couple of months, they will be busy writing and practicing their songs for upcoming shows. Coming up next month, the band will be playing at the Skate Time 209 Battle of the Bands on May 21st at and at Club Crannel in Poughkeepsie on May 23rd.

If you are interested in buying tickets to any of these shows or booking If All Else Fails for a show, you can contact Cody Robinson at 845-594-3342 or contact them on the bands’ MySpace.
