For Spring Break 2012, the Bellbrook High School’s varsity softball team took a trip to Orlando, Florida. The team went down to Disney World to participate in their spring training program at the Wide World of Sports complex. The girls played a total of 6 games over the 5 day period. They played against included teams from Illinois, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. A few teams were very tough competition, leaving BHS with a 3-3 record while there.
Any off time given to the girls was spent at the Disney parks. As a team the girls went to Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. Though mostly standing in long lines and dealing with large crowds, they still managed to have a good time. They also got to ride many rides together including The Rocking Roller Coaster and the famous Tower of Terror. Senior athlete Sierra Stewart’s favorite part of the parks was being able to see the princesses, “I got to see Ariel, and Prince Eric blew me a kiss!”
After fighting the heat and humidity while playing games and exploring the parks, the team would end each day playing beach volleyball under the stars. They made team bonding a main focus on the trip. They ate dinner together every night and everyone was included in the various activities that were presented. The tradition of pranking with silly string and water balloons continued, but it was all clean fun. Everyone got along very well and became a little closer.
