Easter Sunday
Advertising
Sunday 24th, 2011, will be Easter Sunday. Easter is a Christian holiday celebrated because Jesus had rose from the dead three days after his crucifixion. This holiday also signifies the end of Lent, and for the Jewish, it is known as the Passover holiday. In the United States, children make colored eggs in the hope that the Easter bunny will visit them to put goodies in their Easter basket. The Easter bunny was created by the churches and passed down through the generations. Some families have a feast on Easter Sunday. The day this holiday lands on is the basis of Lunisolar cycles. The legend of the Easter bunny was brought to the United States by the German and the Pennsylvania Dutch country. The tradition says that children who were good would go off and hide their Easter baskets, which back then was a bonnet, and the next day the children would have treats and colored eggs inside. This little game brought around the tradition of the Easter egg hunt. The first edible Easter egg was made in Germany in the 19th century. The eggs during the holiday are a symbol birth or resurrection of the spring and Jesus. Everyone have an Easter egg hunt and have a Happy Easter!
