Being known for her bubbly country girl attitude, Carrie Underwood’s new album "Blown Away" came as a major shock to my image of her. With darker tones, and heavy lyrics, “Blown Away” is by far one of the most depressing, yet optimistic albums I have ever listened to.

“Blown Away” changed my opinion of Underwood from just a simple little country girl who won American Idol, to a true woman who I could relate to. Because Underwood writes her own songs unlike so many other artists, there is true emotion behind each and every song.

Songs such as  “Thank God for Hometowns”, focusing on the loss of a loved one, and  child abuse in “Blown Away,” brought tears to my eyes as I listened to Underwood’s perfect voice tell the story of countless characters that many young women can relate to.

On May 1, 2012 Underwood announced a “Blown Away Tour” which is to begin in September 2012. Knowing how amazing the songs truly are, I am seriously considering paying the tremendous amount of money to be able to experience the atmosphere of the thousands of people singing her stories out loud.

Tracks such as “See You Again” and “Who Are You” are songs that I can play over and over again, never getting tired of the story lines and positive messages.

Each and every song on “Blown Away” has a different story to tell, and a different lesson to teach listeners.

However, this new album is not what I would call “family friendly.” With sexual undertones and dark images, this album is for more of an adult album than “Some Hearts.”

“Blown Away” is by far Underwood’s most intriguing albums and I strongly recommend it. This album is for those who just want a good song to sing to this summer, young women going through emotional hardships, and everyone who has a heart for country music.
