Welcome to the World of Manga

なぜあなたは漫画を読むか? What is that you may be thinking? Well, I’ll tell you... at the end of my story.

What is the word Manga? I can tell you the boring book definition, or I can tell you my definition! Manga is a Japanese-style comic book that instead of reading from left to right, you read it from right to left. There are many genres that you can read like action, romance, comedy, etc. (my favorite would be romance and action). One of the best, in my opinion, would be Naruto!  It’s about a boy that wants to become the best Ninja in the world. But he has to surpass many of his teachers and allies to become Hokage of his village! There’s many more but this one by far is my favorite.

Manga is more than a comic book, but at the same time, a comic book! But, hey, you’ll never know till you try and actually read one, cause at the end of the book you might be a fan as well. Oh, and by the way, the Asian script at the top is Japanese for Why you no read Manga?

Here are some action titles for those who just like to see Fighting: Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, and Claymore. Maybe romance is more your thing: Vampire Knight, Fruits Basket, and Captive Hearts (Though I haven’t read it manga readers tell me it’s really romantic). There are so many more Manga titles you just have to search for some that meet your interest. For instance, if you like Action-type books, something like Vampire Knight or Fruits Basket will NOT be to your liking. Instead, try something like Naruto or Bleach.

Never read just one Manga Title, always read another one because you might not like that one but the one perfect for you can be right next to it. For me Manga is something I like reading from time to time because I love books with pictures (but not little kid books). I’m a fan of Naruto, but if you don’t like it it’s okay not all the books are the same. Well, none of them are the same. Each author makes them different.

So instead of sitting at home doing nothing, why not go to the public library or even the Maplewood library has them! The ones that are here are really good too, like Claymore and Vampire Knight. Some MHS students that really know about manga are Isaiah Garrett and Alex Villacorta. They are both fans of these types of books and will tell you which ones you will like best. So, if you have any questions about Manga talk to them or me (I’ll be around in school being weird).

Hey Jovani, I really enjoyed your segment about Manga styled reading. I really admire how you incorporate your humor into your work. Though if you think you're competing with me, then humor is really your profession. Aside from my sarcastic insult great stuff. Whatever advice Mr. Jackson has take it and evolve, that guy's a veteran to this.
