The time has finally arrived; the iPhone has come to Verizon.

A couple of weeks ago, Verizon made the announcement that they would start selling the iPhone 4 on their 3g network. For those that haven’t heard of Apple’s iPhone capabilities: it’s a high-tech touch screen smart phone capable of listening to music, watching videos, video calling, video gaming, reading books, basically anything someone can think of.

Ever since AT&T received the first Apple iPhone, Verizon customers have been awaiting their release of the phone.

"Those die-hard Apple fans were just waiting and waiting and waiting," Verizon store manager LeeRoy Gomez said. "People are very excited because it’s finally a reality for the iPhone to come to Verizon."

The planned release date was February 10, but current Verizon Wireless customers can pre-order it online since February 3. The 16 gigabyte model will be $199, and the 32 gigabyte model will be $299, with a two year contract of course. With the announcement of the iPhone, Verizon is expected to hurt AT&T.

"The AT&T network is pretty spotty, so if I can get the same plan on Verizon I’ll definitely switch," said Nick Goater, an iPhone addict.

Not only will the phone affect AT&T, but some also think it will affect Google Android as well.

"Android phones outsell iPhones in the U.S., but we believe when Verizon gets the iPhone, that trend could be reversed," Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster said. "As an example, in countries where the iPhone is available on multiple carriers and competes with Android, we see the iPhone outselling Android."

Verizon’s version will be basically the same, but it will also offer hotspots at an extra $20 a month. Hotspots will enable someone to connect up to five devices to the iPhone giving each its own Wi-Fi connection.

Many analysts predict Verizon to sell millions and millions of new iPhones.

"There are probably around 17 million subscribers on AT&T that use the iPhone cumulatively," said Brian Marshall, an analyst at Gleacher & Co who has set a 2011 sales estimate of around 12 million units. "I think over time Verizon could be even bigger than that."

Those who will buy the phone in February will receive the normal $30 a month unlimited data plan already provided by Verizon. Reports say this plan will only be for a limited time, raising the iPhone data price shortly after release.

So, the question is: Who will be buying the new Verizon iPhone 4 in February?
