Carlisle continues being undefeated despite losing senior Alyssa Rowe and junior Shay Ewell for the season with torn ACL’s.
The girls remain unbeaten in the Mid Penn conference. The girls are 3-0 in the Mid Penn, and 7-0-2 in the regular season. The girls’ leading scorer is freshman Kirstyn Sokolsky with six goals.
Senior Alyssa Rowe said, “[Rupturing my ACL for the fourth game into the season] was devastating to me, because I have been playing for 13 years and I can’t even finish my senior year.”
The girls played Red Land on Tuesday April 10 and tied 2-2 as it went into over time. Both teams played well, but it was mainly a defensive game. After two more halves of overtime, neither team could cash in on the game winning goal.
They played a thrilling game against Chambersburg Thursday April 12. Carlisle took the lead in the first half with a goal by freshman Mariah Varner. Chambersburg responded shortly after Carlisle went up by 1 with a goal in the second half. Sophomore Michaela Coplen scored the game winner in double overtime to end the game with a herd victory 2-1.
Varner said, “I am really proud of how we stepped up and came together as a team after we lost Shay and Alyssa. It is great to have their support every game.”
Sophomore Caroline Bixby also touched on how the “whole team is really coming together as a unit.”
Their next game is on Tuesday April 17 against Cumberland Valley (CV) at CV. CV is 4-2-0 on the year and their only two losses were against Cedar Cliff and Red Land. In comparison, Carlisle beat Cedar Cliff and tied Red Land.
