With the end of the school year coming up, I’m starting to feel both at ease and deathly afraid of the new year. I’m going to be a junior next year, and I don’t think that I’m ready for all of the things that that year will bring. I will have to start applying to colleges. YIKES.
I’m sure that applying for college at first is sort of fun. You get to do campus tours, meet new people, and some people even get to try out a few classes through some college program. It must be so exciting to fill out your paper and mail it out to the college, but it also seems very scary.
I’m not sure how all you guys in the upper grades do it, and make it look so simple. “Oh, you just have to fill out a piece of paper and write an essay, mail it, then wait for your letter. Then BAM. You’re in or out of college.” Okay, so that sounds simple, but I seriously doubt that it is.
What if I don’t get accepted into the university that I want to go to? What does a person do then? Settle for somewhere else, I’m guessing. I don’t want to have to do that. This is why I am so stressed out for next year. Then there’s also the point that I really don’t know if what I think I’m going to be doing is what I should be. What if I’m making a mistake in my choice of major? What if I won’t get a job in that field? Would I have gone to college for nothing?
So seriously, I don’t know how you upper-classmen do all of this so easily. I’m only in grade 10 and I’m freaking out!
