At-a-glance

San Juan Hills’ first football games were set to be an exciting ones, but losses have been becoming more common.

With Coach Flowers being new to the Stallions team, starting off on a losing streak (0-3) was something he most likely did not anticipate.

Coach Flowers has high hopes for the team, even though they have not started out strong. He said the main problems they are encountering as a team are “lack of experience as many have not played at the varsity level before.” Altogether, the team has had eleven turnovers in three games with numerous errors on special teams.

In addition to lack of experience, a few players have been recently injured causing them to be out for the remainder of the season. On the bright side of losing two all-league players, this gives others the chance to step up and improve their skills.

Flowers said that the team is playing hard which will hopefully produce a positive outcome in the long run. He says that the team should focus on “not defeating themselves and executing their assignments.”

San Juan Hills’ homecoming game is coming up on October 14 against El Toro. The team’s strategy is to go over the drills they have been working on to continue to work hard to improve each week.
