"Little Shop of Horrors" made an interesting stop at Morton East, April 27 through April 29. Blood, gore, man-eating plant, music, suspense, drama and a bit of comedy premiered nicely at the Chodl auditorium. 150 to 200 people attended each performance.

"Little Shop of Horrors" is about a young man named Seymour rising to fame and fortune with the help of a Venus fly trap. Problems begin when the plant gets a mind of its own -- it hungers for fresh meat – human meat. Soon it wants to.... I'll leave that a secret.

The whole play was wonderfuI. (I saw it 3 times!)Day one, there were some technical issues with mics and volume, but the crowd still loved it. Day two, everything went well but the crowd was a bit quiet. The final performance on Sunday was perfect..

There were 16 cast members: Jesus Vasquez (Seymour), Jesariah Martinez (Audrey), Jose Ramirez (Mr. Mushnik), Emmanuel Sanchez (Orin), Sonia Mendoza (young plant), Chris Glorioso (old plant), Laura Paz (Crystal),Angelica Tirado (Chiffon), Priscilla Perez (Ronnette), Jessica Lepe (Roxie), Idelem Garfio (Plant/Ensemble), Alexis Pedraza (Plant/Ensemble), Conchita Aritici (Skip Snip/Ensemble), Ola Samrah (PatriciaMartin/Ensemble), Talina Vasquez (Ms. Luce/Ensemble), Mr. Bernstein/Ensemble).

There was also an ensemble of singers: Esperanza Castellanos, Melanie Martinez, Xochitl Robledo, Suzzane Navarrete, Monica Rodriguez, Desirey Maldonado, Maria Salinas, Edgar Vilchiz, Roberto Rodriguez, Diego Irizarry, Anthony Robledo, Valarie Guerrero. My favorite part was when Mr. Mushnik and Seymour sang "Mushnik and Son."

"Little Shop" was worth watching. I feel sorry for whoever missed it.

"It was a wonderful experience for the whole cast, and I'm proud with how it went.

This was a reminder that we have good talent here at Morton," director Mr.Balderas said.
