Some students at Juan Diego Catholic High School said the assemblies were a blast, while some said otherwise. Now they can all have their say with the assurance that Student Government leaders will hear them.
Right now, at Juan Diego's official website, jdchs.org, students can take a survey from the Human Concerns board in Student Government. The survey includes questions regarding Homecoming, pep rallies, and other first semester activities. Students are also asked to give their opinions on school policies and how their overall experience at JD has been.
Maddie Barnard, who is the JD freshmen class president but is not on the Human Concerns board, thinks it is a good opportunity for everyone in the student body to let their voices be heard. “The survey is to assess the contentment of the students in JD,” Barnard says.
Lynelle Williams, Student Government Adviser at JD, agrees with Barnard’s statement. “The reason we are giving this survey is to also make the student body feel like they have a voice and that they have been heard,” Williams says.
Once the survey is taken, the board will take into consideration the weak areas of the activities and policies according to the student feedback. After they find the weakest areas, they will conduct another survey on how to make them better. This is the first time this has been done at JD and the Human Concerns Board hopes to do more things like this.
To access the survey, students can visit jdchs.org and then click on “login.” After entering a name and password, a student can click on “JDCHS Student Satisfaction” link. This link will go straight to the survey where the student is then asked to enter ratings from one to ten on eleven questions about stress, teachers, service opportunities, overall JD experience, and much more.
“Take it seriously,” Williams advises students. “It is Student Government’s purpose to continue to keep the year on an upbeat direction through spirit and service.”
