The Hawks opened the 2011 season with a 22-0 loss to the Detroit Eagles at Lowrance Stadium on Friday, August 26.
"The Hawks started off promising following the opening kickoff with their first play from scrimmage resulting in a 52-yard TD run, but unfortunately, it was called back due to a holding penalty," Head Coach Keith Cook said.

The Hawks put the ball on the turf 3 times and lost 2. The Eagles put the ball on the turf 5 times, but only lost one. The Hawks got inside the Eagles' 20-yard line twice, but both times came away with no points. Offensively, the Hawks struggled with 78 yards rushing and 88 yards passing.
