Kyla Peterson decided that track would be best for her back
in middle school. That decision has paid off since she’s qualified for
regionals two years in a row. Peterson will be one of three girls at the
regional track meet competing for Bastrop,
qualifying in the long jump and triple jump.
“I keep myself in top shape to perform by eating healthy and
lots of water,” Peterson said.
Eyes will be on Peterson as she has set high standards for
herself, with some of her best jumps coming in at 16ft. 10 ½ in. on long jump and
35.1ft for her triple jump.
“Doing my personal best is all I worry about when I’m doing my competitions,”
Peterson said. “I don’t have time to off set my mind on what my opponent is
doing. I also pray before each one of my events, to ensure that I remain humble
through all my successes.”
