The Internet has been a revolutionary tool that made communications and access to information so simple and lightning fast.
Society has evolved from “mail delivered” to “email sent.” Social interaction and entertainment is practically integrated in our lives; it has made connections and networks easily accessible. Openly, the spread of an idea is now much faster today through the use of an old, but endless evolving platform: the internet.
People who use the internet may already know all the online culture, lingos, and other online entertainment. The point is that we are part of the evolution. On social media websites such as Facebook and YouTube, an important element of internet culture will be noticeable, memes. An internet meme is used to describe a concept or idea that spreads via the Internet. It has many forms consisting of sound bytes, images, videos, and even text. The well known prominent memes like “Troll Face” and “Nyan Cat” have easily taken the interest of internet users. Memes have been such an important part of the evolvement of the internet that a dedicated site to internet memes archive appeared: KnowYourMeme.com
“I express myself with a variety of memes to show how I feel or express my ideas in a comical way,” senior Kenny Huynh said. “It can be relatable to others that share my idea.”
We all use at least one or more social media websites everyday. There are many possibilities of how adapting or creating a new internet culture whether we email some information, instant message the start of a conversation, or upload hilarious entertaining videos online, we utilize it to our own preferences. Whether we like it or not, internet cultures continue to thrive with new possibilities and implementation of a new culture quality is easily fitted in by the users. We contribute to change by using these memes, where usage spreads like wildfire and eventually changes how we use interact and use the internet.
