The school year is almost over! Everyone is excited to stay home and sleep in all day. However, when we come back to school, Rancho Dominguez will have a slight change. Because of the school’s budget, the school can know longer afford to have eight classes. 

“We are upset that we can’t have eight classes next year. Lesser classes will make it more difficult to catch up on credits. We want all RDPS students to graduate, and this will make it slightly harder,” school principal, Keri Lew said. 

So what’s going to happen next year? Will RDPS have either six or seven classes? 

“We still aren’t sure on how many classes we are having next year. We will have a meeting with all the staff members to vote on the school schedule,” Lew said. 

Now that we got a school administrators thoughts, its time to get students’ opinions on the school schedule next year. 

‘I would like to have 7 classes next year. I feel like it would be easier, but its also going to give us more of an advantage when our credits add up,’’ 11th grader Sheena Martinez said. 

However some students think 7 and 8 classes are too much work. 

‘I think this school should have 6 classes, like other schools do. Lesser classes mean it would be easier and people would be less stressed about the homework and classwork,’’ 11th grader Kimberly Barajas said. 

The school year of 2012-2013 would be different because RDPS will have their first Senior class. The students, especially the juniors, want RDPS to be a great school to graduate from. So hopefully, whatever the decision comes to, the students will be happy and enjoy their time here at Rancho Dominguez.
