To
include a wider variety of people in this year’s yearbook, there will be a
silent auction from Jan. 17-20 for students to bid on each letter in the index.
The highest bidder for each letter will be featured next to their respective
index letter.
“Students
will have the opportunity to bid on the first letter of their last name and the
highest bidder for each letter will be featured with that letter in the index.
It will add a personal touch and increase student interaction because the
student who wins the letter will get to choose what it says about them. The
auction is acting as a fundraiser for the journalism programs,” yearbook
business manager senior Bethany Jones said.
The
bidding papers will be posted outside the Journalism Room, F101 when the
auction begins. Bids begin at $5. To raise a bid on the letter, the bid must be
raised a minimum of $1. Bids may be raised by whole dollars only.
Students
can only bid on the letter of their last initial. Friends and siblings and
share the letter as long as they share the same last initial.
After the four days, the papers will be taken down at 3:15. The
person who bid the highest will be notified on the following Monday morning.
Payment is due Tuesday at noon. If the payment is not received, the letter will
go to the second-highest bidder. Payment may be in cash or check only.
All students will be featured in
the index as normal. The winters in the auction will be highlighted with a
profile at the top of each section in the index.
