The
life of an Orchestra student may seem easy and serene but take one look into Junior
Ruben Hunter’s life and a different perspective will form.
“Most
people are shocked when they find out I’m an Orchestra student, because I’m the
type that seems like would be into sports”. Hunter said.
Hunter
has been in Orchestra since he was in fourth grade.
“Orchestra
runs in my family my dad was in Orchestra when he was little and so is my
younger brother.” Hunter said.
Orchestra
is hard on Hunter. Every Tuesdays and Thursdays there is after school practice,
which normally lasts an hour and a half. And there is no rest at home. In
addition to the Tuesday and Thursday practice sessions, Hunter practices 2
hours a week. Hunter may seem like he has a full plate already but on top of
that he’s in football and wrestling.
“Shockingly
the hardest thing about orchestra is juggling the sports with it,” Hunter said.
Hunter
has wrestling practice every day until 5:00 and Iron Claw, which is starting in
the summer from 6:30 to 8:00.Hunter may be quite busy with his extra-curricular
activities his academics aren’t suffering. He maintains a 3.7 grade point
average.
“My
parents aren’t super strict about my grades, but the still want me to make good
ones,” Hunter said.
Though
Hunter has a busy life he still makes time for hobbies and recreational
activities.
For
fun I ride dirt bikes in the summer and work at my mom’s pool cleaning
business. I also like to hang out with my dad. We are currently working on an
audio system for my car,” Hunter said.
Despite
having a busy life Hunter is able to keep his schedule under control and still
have time to pick up his viola and play a few notes.
