On Friday May 4th, Hendersonville faced 9-1 Mt. Juliet in the District tournament. The Golden Bears opened up the game big scoring 7 runs in the first inning with Hendersonville scoring none. From there, the game seemed to go back and forth between the two teams. The Lady Commandos scored a run in the 2nd. Following, Mt. Juliet who scored 2 in the 3rd. The 4th was Hendersonville’s turn again as they scored 3 runs. Still holding the lead, Mt Juliet got another run in the 5th.
The score was 10-6 at the start of the 6th, however Hendersonville was still optimistic. They knew this was do or die. Going into the 6th inning with confidence, the ladies managed 4 runs in the 6th. A now nervous Mt. Juliet squad knew they had to have a showing also. However Hendersonville held them off from a big play and only let them get one more run in.
The game was now 11-8 and with 2 innings to go. Both teams playing hard, it became a defensive battle. No other runs were scored and the game ended along with Hendersonville’s season.
