It’s the book that has everyone raving. Written by Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games has been hailed as having a unique plot at an exhilarating pace. Set in protagonist Katniss Everdeen finds herself thrown into her country’s annual Hunger Games, where being spared from death is victory for the twenty-four participating teens. With action, thrill and romance weaved throughout the plot, it is hard not to become enthralled with the trilogy. Although this series seems to be geared toward teenagers, it does have widespread appeal. It captivates both genders and people of all ages. After the movie was released, accumulating $155 million, the popularity of the books skyrocketed. The movie gained the interest of a variety of readers. “I like not knowing what was going to happen next in the games,” said senior Emily Barkley. As time goes on, more and more people are drawn into the world of the Hunger Games. Looking for a summer read? Be prepared to be glued for awhile.
