NHS rocked and rolled with their fleece hat project! - Hannah Weber

In concept, the Day of Sharing is a positive entity with good intentions. Although most students take the Day of Sharing as a joke, some are very committed. I had a successful day, walking/running 14.5 miles for the Relay for Life. Many other events also had successful days, such as National Honor Society who made 101 hats for orphaned children.
Throughout the years, however, many students skip their activity or slack off the whole day. There has been talk of cutting the Day of Sharing for these reasons. But that is unfair to those who truly do get involved and enjoy it. For future Days of Sharing, only those who are serious about it should be excused to do activities while the rest of the students stay in class. If a student is subsequently not present in a class, they should encounter consequences, such as detention. The Day of Sharing needs better management by the staff and administration. If those in charge don’t allow students to slack off and have mandatory check-ins throughout the day, then there will be a higher percentage of students involved.
Several students find Day of Sharing to be prolonged, especially depending on their activity. In the future, a range of events should be involved. Day of Sharing should be shortened to noon or one o’ clock, with everyone reuniting at the school afterwards for lunch. This allows students to relax, debrief on the day and retire to the gym for a school activity. Providing a service for your community can be exceptionally rewarding and builds character. With these changes, there would be a higher rate of participation leading to a successful Day of Sharing.
