There has been a lot of questioning about whether or not teens in the city of new have should have a curfew of 10 o’clock p.m. A lot has been going on in our youth that give police all the reason in the world to set a curfew to attempt in trying to stop night crime and violence. Everything from shootings, fights and drugs play a huge roll in why the curfew came about. Although police and parents look at the curfew as a beginning to stop violence teens see it differently. Teenagers at Hillhouse high school stated their opinions on November 23, at there school. The points that students were trying to get across is, if police enforce that teens being in the house by 10, the crime would jus move to earlier times Shanice Johnson stated “the violence would only be pushed to earlier hours, either as teens head to school or when they are leaving school”. Teens also stated that instead of having a curfew, police should just patrol city streets more, driving and walking taking note of what is going on, which is also a good statement. What police and others in favor of curfew are failing to realize is the kids that live in their cities know best and need to be listened to. Whether or not the curfew is going to be mad has not been said yet but a meeting is being held and points also acknowledgements will be made.
