Two well-respected and established academic groups inducted new members recently. The National English Honor Society (NEHS) and National Honor Society (NHS) welcomed new members to their ranks on April 24th and April 25th, respectively. Additionally, NEHS held a senior recognition ceremony on Wednesday, April 25th.
NEHS, which began at Paint Branch in 2007-08, was founded and sponsored by Sigma Tau Delta to congratulate students for high achievement in English language and literature. The NEHS doesn’t just encourage interest in English language arts but also promotes leadership among its members.
Just like the NEHS, the NHS also recognizes outstanding high school students as well. The NASSP established this organization in 1921 and has been helping students build character ever since. Their main purpose is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service and to develop character in the students. Between the two organizations, seventy-eight Paint Branch students became members of either the NHS or NEHS.
