What’s the first thing you do when you get home? You probably have a website that you go straight to. For some, it’s Facebook, others Tumblr but, for 16% of teens twelve through seventeen, their site is Twitter.
I personally thought the percentage would be higher. Compared to Facebook, which is at a staggering 93%, you would think the Twitter percentage is considered low, but it’s honestly not. Imagine taking 16% of teens, twelve through seventeen, that’s a lot of people.
Just because the percentage is low, it doesn’t mean Twitter isn’t active all the time. And most of the time, teens are tweeting personal stuff. Sometimes it’s way too personal. What you might not know though, is what you Tweet or post on Facebook, can affect your life in the future.
Most people want to go to college, right? Well, now some colleges check your Twitter and Facebook accounts to see what pictures you’ve been posting and what kind of things you have been up to.
According to goseecampus.com, “2007, the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) found that 32% of colleges surveyed would revoke a student’s admission based on an inappropriate posting.”
One of those colleges could be the one you’re applying for. Don’t make the mistake of posting something inappropriate or demeaning on this websites. It could cost you your future. Thing before you tweet or post. Is it really worth it?
