Robert Moog was born on May 23, 1934, in New York City.  Moog died when he was 71 in 2005 of brain cancer.  Robert Moog, commonly called Bob, is known for making the Moog synthesizer.  His musical electronic inventions made him a legend in the music world.  Moog is known for being a geek and he is very proud of it.
Google decided to honor Bob Moog on his birthday by creating an ultra cool interactive doodle which they called a 'Goog'.  By doing this, Google wanted to demonstarate to the world how "instrumental" the late Moog was.  Google handed over its web browser homepage to a playable synthesize-based logo inspired by Moog.  The purpose of the synthesizer was for users to play with it using either their keyboard or mouse.
The synthesizer kept the theme of the 1960's music technology.  According to the Bob Moog Foundation, "it also included a 4 track tape recorder so you can record, and play back and share songs via short links on Google."  We all know Moog didn't create the synthesizer, RCA did, but Moog took it to a different level.  Long live the legend of Robert Moog!
