I won’t lie, it took tons of pressure off of me to walk into the DMV to get my license and know that I didn’t have to take a signs test to get my license. It made the whole experience easier and less stressful. But honestly? Not making new drivers take a signs test to get their license? That seems a little lazy to me.
Having a license is a huge freedom, and by the DMV giving kids their license means that they hold not only their own lives, but other driver’s lives in their hands too. That’s a huge responsibility. Especially when all a teenager has to do to get their license is be able to drive down a street and turn at the bottom, it’s not rocket science; and quite frankly it doesn’t show a lot about what they know about the rules of the road and signs.
