The BiSci (Biology-Science) Club is a program that brings awareness of the school's cleanliness to students. The club strives to get the students involved in beautifying the campus and taking care of the environment.
Members of the BiSci Club believe it is their responsibility to keep DCA clean and environmentally safe. The club teaches students to do their share in helping out.
The club began three years ago when current sophomore at Samford University, Hope Hamilton, and Rachel Davis shared with Mrs. Townsend their idea of starting a science club. The club has no requirements involving academic achievements and anyone can join.
Once a month there is a "Beautify DCA Day." Members plant flowers, pick up trash, and make sure everything outside the school looks appealing. The club's next clean-up day is going to be on Sat., Sept. 15 after the ACT testing is over.
"We are trying to start a recycling program this year," says president Rachel Davis, senior. She would love to start out with recycling paper in hopes that it will build to the recycling of other items, too.
The club is accepting new members and is a wonderful investment of time for people who have a desire to keep the environment clean.
