ting has always been around, but nowadays there are many other things causing it. “I think it’s a little worse because of technology,” said Casey Luker, English teacher. This is a very good point, there are many distractions today with technology anywhere in general. There have been car accidents because of technology, death, and much unnecessary distractions in schools and businesses. When teachers are trying to teach and let the class know what assignments they’ll be doing many students will be busy with phones or music sometimes even video games. This creates what we call “distractions” with the students using them, and the students around them. This distraction can lead to procrastination. “Cell phones and i pods need to be put away next year, it causes the kids to not care and pay more attention to their messages.” Paula Fredman. Rules have been enforced since last year in the science and math departments but I noticed it hadn't changed much.Kids were still bringing phones and i pods and weren’t feeling like it mattered whether the teachers threatened to take them or not. Can this ever be stopped?
Do students always procrastinate on purpose? We may never know, Casey Luker states “I would say it’s just conscious.” Meaning people make it into a habit when they do things. On the other hand Paula Fredman firmly says “Yes, they procrastinate on purpose. Lazy people who don’t want to do their homework, and and always think they have enough time.” Ms. Fredman understands, she is a study hall teacher who is very involved with her students trying to help them with homework and grades in every way. “Students put off work and just tell me ‘oh i have time’ when really they don’t.” Many teachers and many other people find it frustrating to try and help someone when they always hold off. “You would think when people try and help other people they would get the hint and try and do better.” Says Ruby Arellano, 16. So do people procrastinate on purpose? Hmm? “I think it all depends on the person and who they are.” Sates Ruby Arellano. I believe this is true depending on your state of mind and outlook on school.
