Have
you ever gone to a foreign country? From, personal experience, I know
that it is a fantastic opportunity. Having the opportunity to be able
to travel away from your home country could be your dream come true,
but that dream could turn into a nightmare when you realize that you
can’t go anymore because you have acquired financial difficulties. Any
prospective traveller would graciously accept some “financial aid”.
I
have a friend in need of help. Courtny Stiles, a sophomore at Skyline
High School, has been accepted into the SGLA (Sustained Global
Leadership Alliance) program. Through the program, she has been granted
the opportunity to travel to India with other SGLA members. Along with
being a sophomore at Skyline, Courtny also participates in symphonic
band and marching band and gets along well with others. She’s very
ambitious and will do what it takes to get what she needs. This would
not have been the first major travelling Courtny has done. Courtny has
been to Cancun as well as Iowa.
Courtny
had told me that she will learn about who she is and she will learn
about how to be a leader. “The trip to India will help me in social
situations and in times when I want to be a leader,” said Courtny.
Courtny
needs to raise about $4,700. It seems like a big amount of money,
however that money goes into an experience that can last a lifetime.
Courtny will obtain skills that will help her in situations during any
point in her life; not just in high school.
Courtny
would definitely benefit a lot from this trip to India. Support from
friends and family would be greatly appreciated. This is a once in a
lifetime opportunity. Even if you can’t have it yourself, wouldn’t you
want to give that opportunity to somebody else?
